Ours is certified SHADE-GROWN by Nicaragua Department of Forestry. This is a mild, almost sweet coffee with a good body, light acidity, and excellent aroma, often has a hint of the smokiness that Antiguas are famous for. The Alianza Region is located in the Matagalpa area of Nicaragua at the center of an ancient Rain Forest. The coffee is grown in this unique environment under an intense rainforest canopy.
This is the traditional method of growing coffee. The rainforest stores nutrients in the trees and foliage. This lush canopy is also home to rare birds and wildlife which migrate through and live in this region. By growing their crops in a healthy, balanced and sustainable manner, the farmers protect this sensitive ecosystem and its future as a production area.

Peaberry coffees are unique among all coffees because they technically a rare defect in nature where a single oval bean vs a pair of flat sided beans are created. They have a very bright and acidic flavor that has a chocolate overtone that is sure to please. If anything, the aroma that pours out of the bag is so intoxicating you may never even have to brew it.
